Empowering vision:Software Grid

Estimates and removes scattered radiation from images captured without a physical grid, improving the contrast
Software Grid is an image processing algorithm designed to eliminate scattered radiation from acquired X-ray images without the use of a physical anti-scatter grid.
THE
FEATURES

Scattered radiation is known to compromise image quality in radiography. Physical anti-scatter grids have traditionally been used to mitigate this problem, but these come with limitations, such as increased patient dose and the risk of misalignment.
Software Grid is an effective alternative, producing an image contrast and sharpness comparable to those obtained with a physical grid, but without the need to use the actual grid and thus limiting the patient’s exposure to radiation.
This post-processing solution can be applied in every setting, but it is particularly useful in situations where grid placement is complex, allowing grid-free acquisitions without compromising diagnostic quality.

Two distinct modes of operation ensure maximum adaptability to different clinical settings:
Simplified Mode – Removes scattered radiation without the need for system calibration, which is ideal for fast workflows and dynamic environments (perfect for mobile or add-on systems).
Standard Mode – Provides system calibration for more precise, optimized removal of scattered radiation, which is suitable for highly specialized clinical settings (perfect for DR rooms and DRF systems).
Strengths:
- The library can be integrated with all Windows 10 acquisition software that supports DLLs
- It can be used with any detector that meets the diagnostic standards required by the acquisition system
- The technology is based on physical models, not artificial intelligence, to ensure highly accurate results
- Compatible with all anatomical regions for complete diagnostic versatility
- Two modes of operation (standard and simplified) adapt to any application
Once the acquisition made without a physical grid is complete, the raw image (in simplified mode), together with the calibration and acquisition parameters (in standard mode), are fed into the Software Grid algorithm, which eliminates scattered radiation and generates a raw image with optimised contrast and sharpness.
